THE FORGOTTEN EDUCATION

We spend years, investing lakhs,
To earn degrees, diplomas, and ranks.
Only then are we called a Graduate,
A Postgraduate, or a PhD—great.

Yet, we claim to be Deendar with pride,
But for Islamic knowledge, we set aside.
We assume that being a true believer
Is just prayer, fasting, and a few rituals to deliver.

Our greatest duty, our primary call,
Is to teach our children Islam above all.
But while academic learning is deemed a must,
Islamic education is left to dust.

Our love for the world, our heedless ways,
Have led to confusion in countless days.
With arrogance and ignorance as our guide,
Even faith is lost, and some turn aside.

We find time for shopping, feasts, and fun,
For gossip and sleep when the day is done.
Yet, to read a book or attend a talk,
Feels burdensome—too much to walk.

From birth to death, our duties unfold,
Yet the first as parents, we barely hold.
We name our child without knowing its worth,
Unaware of Sunnah from the very birth.

Our worship is hollow—mere ritual remains,
For true understanding, none explains.
We lack the Fiqh of purity and prayer,
Zakah and Hajj—we’re unaware.

The Seerah of our Prophet (saw), the lives of the great,
The Khulafa’s wisdom, the prophets’ fate—
We know them not, their stories untold,
Their morals, their manners—left in the cold.

We fail to discern what’s lawful or not,
Halaal, Haraam—we’ve long forgot.
Shirk and Bid’ah are unknown to us,
While Riba and Wasiyah cause much fuss.

We write “Nikah min Sunnati” with grace,
Yet our weddings defy Islam’s embrace.
Bound by customs, blind to the way,
The Qur’an and Sunnah we betray.

O Allah, in ignorance we tread,
Muslims by name, by Islam unfed.
If we do not change, if we stay the same,
Our children will suffer, our faith in shame.

Every moment, trials arise,
Shaytan prevails as we close our eyes.
O Allah, awaken our hearts to see,
That we have failed You utterly.

Grant us the Hidayah to seek Your light,
To learn our Deen and walk aright.
To know You better, to follow our guide,
To cast away arrogance and pride.

O Allah, You warned of Shaytan’s deceit,
Yet, without knowledge, we accept defeat.
Our Iman is weak, we’ve gone astray,
Guide us back before we decay.

Lead us, O Allah, to the righteous track,
Protect us from Hell, bring our hearts back.
We’ve wandered too far, yet still we pray,
Take our hands—show us the way.
