The Unopened Instructions Manual

(Why Life Falls Apart When Qur’an and Sunnah Are Ignored)

instruction manual

A deep Islamic reminder explaining how the Qur’an and Sunnah are the ultimate instruction manual for life, and why ignoring divine guidance leads to problems in marriage, parenting, and daily life. A must-read for every Muslim.

When you buy a gadget, a home appliance, or a vehicle, the manufacturer provides an instruction manual.

Why? Because the one who created it knows best how it should be used, maintained, and protected.

Now imagine a person who is too busy to read the manual or too arrogant, thinking “I already know everything” or too careless to learn even the basics of maintenance.

  • Such a person very quickly becomes dependent on everyone else.
  • Any technician can cheat him, overcharge him, mislead him, or exploit his ignorance.
  • And the owner will suffer losses—even without realizing how it happened—just because he ignored the manual from the manufacturer.
This Is Exactly Our Condition Today

Allah—the Creator, the Sustainer, the Designer of our minds, hearts, and bodies—has given us His instruction manual, the Qur’an, and sent His Messenger ﷺ as the perfect guide, whose Hadith explains every detail with divine precision.

This guidance is so complete that it teaches even the etiquette of entering and leaving a toilet—something no philosopher, scientist, or modern thinker ever cared to explain for human dignity, purity, or hygiene.  Yet most people who claim to be believers live their lives according to everyone except the Creator:

  • society,
  • culture,
  • social media,
  • celebrities,
  • friends,
  • fashion,
  • desires.

They ignore the Qur’an, they abandon the Sunnah, and then wonder why life is full of confusion.

Real-Life Examples: How Qur’an and Sunnah Fix Our Lives

  1. In Marriage

A marriage guided by ego collapses.  A marriage guided by Allah’s manual becomes a sanctuary of peace.

Islam teaches:

  • The husband must be gentle, forgiving, and merciful.
  • The wife is honored, respected, and protected.
  • Arguments are solved with wisdom, not violence.

The Prophet ﷺ taught how to speak, how to forgive, and how to treat a spouse with love and patience.

When Sunnah enters the home, shaitan leaves. When Qur’an is ignored, outsiders destroy the marriage.

  1. In Parenting

We raise children by copying culture, movies, and society then wonder why they become distant, rebellious, or lost.

Islam shows a better way:

  • Luqman teaches wisdom with love.
  • Ibrahim teaches faith with gentleness.
  • The Prophet ﷺ raised children with hugs, mercy, encouragement, and kindness.

He never hit or humiliated a child. That is the prophetic manual.

When Qur’an guides parenting:

  • hearts stay soft,
  • communication stays open,
  • and children grow with confidence and Iman.
  1. In Daily Life

The Sunnah teaches:

  • honesty in business,
  • respect for neighbours,
  • cleanliness,
  • kindness,
  • good speech,
  • justice,
  • modesty,
  • and even how to smile.

Which philosopher or celebrity ever taught a complete lifestyle like this? Only the One who created us knows how every part of our life should function.

Why Are We Suffering Today?

The Qur’an is not missing. It is present—but ignored.

We:

  • respect it,
  • wrap it beautifully,
  • kiss it,
  • place it high on a shelf…

but don’t read it, don’t follow it, and don’t let it guide our decisions.

A manual on a shelf cannot fix a broken machine. A Qur’an on a shelf cannot fix a broken life.

Allah says:  “Whoever turns away from My remembrance, for them is a life of hardship.” (Qur’an 20:124)

People say:

  • life is stressful,
  • homes have no peace,
  • marriages are breaking,
  • children are lost.

But how can life be peaceful when the Creator’s instructions are ignored?

The Qur’an and Sunnah Were the Secret of Muslim Success

The Sahabah had no technology, money, or power. But they followed the manual perfectly.

  • They obeyed Allah → Allah raised them.
  • They followed the Prophet ﷺ → Allah helped them.
  • They lived Islam → the world followed them.

Today, we want success without obedience. We want dignity without Sunnah. We want peace without Qur’an. It will never work.

Final Reminder: Guidance Only Works When It Is Used

There is no wound that Sunnah cannot heal. No darkness that Qur’an cannot illuminate. No confusion that Allah’s words cannot solve.

So the real question is not: “Where is guidance?” The real question is: “When will we return to it?”

A Dua for me and Every Reader

May Allah unlock our hearts, return us to His Book, and fill our homes with the light of Sunnah. May He make us among those who read, understand, and live His guidance so that our lives in this world and the next become successful.

Ameen.
